This movie was incredibly inspirational for not only those in situations like Liz Murray's but also for people who seem to have to have the perfect home life yet are still making excuses when it comes to school work. This shows that people have no excuse for reaching their full potential in anything they do. My own parents have not struggled with addiction but I did have a childhood friend who's mother did. I remember her mother acting exactly like Liz's mother was portrayed in the movie. She constantly shook, had bruise marks down her arms from the needles and never seemed to be able to talk or think straight. I was so young at the time that I did not quite understand what was going on until I was older but this movie really hit home with me because I feel I better understand how my friend probably felt during that. It does break my heart to say that my friend did not overcome her childhood like Liz did but it is nice to see that others have. My favorite part of the movie was when Liz did not let Chris get in the way of her scholarship despite the things she said about it. Liz was finally doing something for herself! Not taking care of her friends, mother or father but her own self! I cannot firmly say weather or not I would be as resilient because I have not actually experienced this but I would really like to think that I would stay strong and push through. Seeing as I believe in the phrase " This too shall pass" . This phrase keeps me going and gives the strength to push through any mountain I may face. Maybe one day I will face my own obstacle life that will force me to have as much courage as Liz did.

  1. Many of us now just want to skip school and not even go at all. Excuses, Excuses , Excuses that is all we ever give. We never reach out potential we never try hard enough to reach that goal we made for ourselves. It's amazing how much strength Liz had through all of this especially when everything around her was crashing down.
Having a friend that has gone through some of what Liz had I can't imagine how hard that would be. Especially at such a young age not knowing what was going on. I'm sure that all you can do is just be there because honestly that is all you can do.
I hope we both have the strength to push through any obstacle in our life to be able to keep on going even if it may be a little difficult.

  3. I like what you said about how it shows how some kids are struggling outside of school and we wouldn't even know. It's crazy to think that the person you sit next to in class could be going through something insane. Shows us that we should be cautious about what we say and do to others.

  4. I like what you said, how some people have no excuse for not doing work simply because they "can't" (more like don't want to). I have this problem, but I am working on it

  6. "This too shall pass" is something I love to read in the Bible whenever something is going on. It's so true, and It's so relevant in this movie. No matter how bad the storm gets, it shall pass.
